Despatch’s patent-pending VOC Thermal Oxidizer is a point of generation abatement system designed to eliminate over 99% of Volatile Organic Compounds (VOCs) from gasses exhausted during the drying step of solar cell manufacturing with virtually no maintenance. The solar cell manufacturing process creates unwanted environmental pollutants which are byproducts of the drying process and contain the nonmetallic ingredients found in the paste material, such as ethanol, Texanol™ and Terpineol. These pollutants can condense inside facility ductwork and create hazardous conditions. Destroying the VOCs using the Oxidizer eliminates the need to collect and dispose of this waste in a separate process. Despatch’s Thermal Oxidizer attaches directly to the furnace, removing any chance of condensation. VOCs are incinerated, releasing only small amounts of CO2 and water. This solution meets legal and environmental requirements regarding the capture and destruction of organic materials.

The UltraFlex™ is a revolutionary dryer and firing furnace designed to respond to the demands of rapidly advancing cell technology. To achieve next generation firing performance, Despatch developed lamps for the UltraFlex that have a wavelength tuned for maximum heat transfer into the cell. The UltraFlex™ can achieve rapid thermal ramping up to 175°C/second. Patent pending Microzone™ Technology provides infinite profile flexibility independent of belt speed. Microzone lamps are configured to create the sharp divisions and tight control needed to adapt to changing cell architectures, new pastes and selective emitters. Combined radiant and convection cooling action achieves cooling rates of up to 250°C/second as required for maximum cell efficiency. The new Ultraflex edge contact belt design results in less thermal transfer and no marking. The UltraFlex™ defies conventional furnace design in many ways.
