Powerline SL PV laser system

DESCRIPTION

PowerLine SL 20 PVLaser scribing process is in general highly demanding in terms of laser beam quality and stability. A scribe line is typically realized by overlapping focused laser spots, whereas each singular spot is critical for a successfully processed scribe line. As scribes are processed in two directions the laser source has to provide a clean, symmetric laser beam with highest stability from pulse to pulse.

Due to process optimization in terms of getting the effective area of the thin-film module as big as possible and in terms of higher throughput,  the laser scribing process tends to smaller focused spot sizes and higher repetition rates of laser operation.

Both trends are even more demanding due to even lower tolerances of the laser source parameters. The Powerline SL PV is designed for highest requirements and fulfills current and future demands.

INNOVATIVE ASPECT

The Powerline SL PV is specified with highest roundness performance  around the focal plane. (E.g. Powerline SL 3 SHG PV: 95%). Due to the fact, that there might be some local tolerance in module thickness or other tolerances will lead to another working distance, the superior beam quality will compensate for that. Specification is valid for two Rayleigh lengths around the focal plane.

To address the second, most relevant parameter, the Powerline SL series is not just specified with statistical 1 sigma values for pulse-to pulse stability, as it is usual. As each individual pulse is critical in this specific application, the Powerline SL ensures that, specification includes the bandwidth of 100% of 10.000 pulses; the bandwidth itself sets a new standard.

Another innovative aspect not to forget against the previous laser generations is a investment cost reduction per laser source of roughly 50%.

BENEFITS

After having explained mostly laser specific superior parameters of Powerline SL PV, here is to say, that all this comes in one compact, complete, integrator-friendly optical package. This package includes laser safety circuit “inside”, making life of integration much easier, avoiding costs around the laser, too.

Integrator-specific properties of the laser beam like diameter and collimation are adjusted and locked “inside”. That means, that for one integrator, the superior performing laserheads are one-to-one exchangeable.  Therefore, if ever service is needed, this can be performed in a minimum of time => MTTR optimized.
